BRIGHTFIRE
AGE

RANK
Warrior
APPEARANCE
"Torbie and white she-cat with golden eyes"
Brightfire is built for power. She has strong shoulders and a muscular body, and is a little larger than most she-cats her age. Her claws are long and sharp, and her tail of average length. The most striking part of her appearance are the ginger patches on her fur and her bright golden eyes. Her prefix comes from the fiery striped fur she possesses, and her eyes aid in creating an intimidating look that belies a kind and gentle warrior. The brown patches on her fur are striped as well, and she has white, making her a torbie calico.
PERSONALITY
OPTIMISTIC; Brightfire is always spinning things positively for her friends and clanmates-- while mews and purring doesn't satisfy empty stomachs or heal wounds, griping doesn't either. This perception on life might be due to her young age, but Brightfire sees her clan as a team, and if they're all going to work together, someone needs to be the cheerleader sometimes, right?
GENEROUS; The torbie and white she-cat is always willing to lend her time or efforts, and is also always willing to share fresh-kill, even in the harshest leaf-bare. Sometimes this can prove to be a bit of a fault because she can spread herself too thin, which can be taxing on her physical health.
KIND; Brightfire has no love for bullies of any kind, from within her clan or other clans. This strong sense of justice allows her to be imposing yet compassionate, and she is always willing to lend a paw to help others in ThunderClan.
BUCKLES UNDER EXTREME PRESSURE; There's a lot of expectations of a warrior, and it doesn't matter which clan. Brightfire knows this, and she can handle that. However, the idea of leading a battle patrol still makes her uneasy. She's young and figures she might not for a while, but too many expectations placed on her cause her to be self-destructive. This is partly due to the praise she got while an apprentice. She feels as if she cannot fail, because others expect her to be perfect.
LOYAL; She is incredibly loyal to ThunderClan and would defend them to the death, and she is also a strict follower of the warrior code. Not to the point of extremism, but just very devout.
GUARDED; While an apprentice, her mentor could not help but notice Brightfire excelled at battling. She picked up fighting moves quickly, far more adept at it than hunting. Her mentor, while well-meaning, often joked that she was invincible. This, in addition to her heritage, puts a strain on Brightfire as she attempts to live up to this expectation. She knows she is not, and that she still has much to learn as a younger warrior. Yet she still tries to impress which leaves her feeling lonely and anxious on occasions. She guards against these emotions. Few would know she ever has them.
INTIMIDATING; Brightfire comes across as a strong fighter, and her intimidating golden gaze does not help matters. She knows that she can easily scare cats which is why she takes it upon herself to act so kind and gentle.
HISTORY
Chickadeefeather and Redpelt had a fairly ordinary courtship, and they were fairly ordinary warriors-- with the exception that Chickadeefeather was the daughter of their leader, Bearstar. They were well-rounded as most ThunderClan cats go. They went many moons before deciding to have a litter, and because they had one so late in life, it only produced one kit, a torbie and white she-kit they named Brightkit.
Most kits from a single litter are spoiled and bratty, and while she was doted on by both parents, Brightkit was surprisingly well-behaved. She loved the tales of adventures the elders would tell her. She wanted to go on adventures and battle someday, too.
At six moons Brightkit became Brightpaw, and was apprenticed under a stern but mysterious warrior named Leafgaze. The tom always had a bit of a mischievous twinkle in his green eyes, and always seemed to know more about each cat than he actually let on. Brightpaw looked up to him immensely. She had a senior warrior for a mentor! She knew she had to meet his expectations, especially given her parentage.
Throughout her training Leafgaze noticed that Brightpaw, while decent at hunting as most ThunderClan cats were trained to be, was an amazing fighter. She picked up moves quickly, she was swift, she was deadly. He trained her hard, and gave her high praise and high expectations. "The invincible apprentice," he called her, when the mentors and apprentices trained together. Brightpaw, while proud of her accomplishments, was not sure if she enjoyed the weight of the praise she received. It was a lot to live up to.
The praise consumed her-- how could she ever meet the expectation of being, well, perfect?! Brightpaw knew she was far from perfect. She still wobbled in her hunting crouch while up in the trees, she was prone to slipping into the lake by accident while on its banks. These anxieties tore at her, but she never let it show. She could, at least, pretend to be the warrior Leafgaze wanted her to be.
The biting sickness did little to calm her, as Brightpaw watched fellow apprentices, warriors, the medicine cat, and even her own father Redpelt die around her. Leafgaze just leaned over, his breath in her ear, murmuring that she was truly not meant to die. Brightpaw shuddered. If she was invincible-- she wasn't-- she decided she wouldn't want to be. The young she-cat comforted her mother.
At twelve moons Brightpaw received her warrior name, Brightfire, after passing her assessments, surprised that they weren't delayed due to the sickness, but she supposed her and Leafgaze were a little more fit than the rest of the mentor and apprentice pairings. She now carries on her duties as a warrior, with the weight of Leafgaze's proud look on her back.
