APPEARANCE
This tom is fairly large and possesses a considerable amount of bulk underneath his pelt. He appears to be tailored toward strength, having purposefully built himself up to wrestle down potential dangers. This causes him to be considerably slower in comparison to others, his lack of maneuverability leaving him fairly exposed to those whom are faster in comparison if they remain free of his jaws. Boarstep has a hefty step, and struggles to remain silent on most occasions. He makes for a poor hunter, but his pelt allows for him to blend into the background of Shadowclan's respective territory fairly well. His fur is lengthy, and requires quite a bit of grooming to ensure it remains free of burs and bits of greenery. The coloration he boasts is a combination of varying shades of brown with black running down his back. His eye color is a tinted brown. The scars that mark him are mostly hidden away by his pelt, but his most apparant one is a lengthy scar at his side that had been caused by a badger's strike.
PERSONALITY
Boarstep is a simple-natured tom with an obvious lack of ambition. Once encountered one will quickly take notice to his jovial nature, his tone often reflecting his positive attitude and willingness to partake in casual conversation. The large oaf is also rather dull, his naivety causing him to be easily manipulated by another if they target him specifically. The tom's indecisiveness leaves much to be desired, and he often struggles with the complexities of life. Yet the male possesses some semblance of potential that allows for him to naturally thrive as a warrior. The combination of dumb luck and his talent for combat has allowed for him to be viewed as a competent clan member. Boarstep can also be viewed as obedient to fault, his loyalty admirable and his willingness to obey quite obvious to those whom lead.
He easily grows frustrated when forced to puzzle or mull over something for a length of time, and will naturally assume that most problems are remedied through brute strength alone. Of course, he tends to assume that the fairer sex should take up the mantle of leadership due to those whom he witnessed at an impressionable age. Yet, despite his low level of intelligence, he remains confident within himself. Boarstep is rather proud of his accomplishments, yet he is uncertain of taking on a position that demands a hefty amount of personal attention. There are few things he openly fears, but responsibility is something that he tends to visibly recoil from. He also openly loathes snakes, and will verbally or visibly show his distaste for the scaled serpent. Boarstep also isn't the best when dealing with great heights, and is much more comfortable among the brush and earth.
The tom is notably fond of kits and often admires those whom have found love, appearing to desire a family of some kind for himself in the future. He is quite good at stories as well, managing to retain their detail and magnificence and retell them with just as much gusto. Whenever free to do whatever he pleases he tends to visit the elders or nursery frequently, rejoicing in the company to be had there.
HISTORY
He remembers his kitten-hood with a startling amount of clarity. He is even reminded, on occasion, of the beckoning scent of milk and even his father's great size as he peered down at the kittens tucked against his mate's belly. His mother served as the dominating figure within his life, inspiring his great respect for she-cats as she sought to educate them at an early age. She was a magnificent warrior, and quite proficient at serving her clan. His father was an affectionate and quiet fellow, often relying upon his mate to take charge of various situations. It was during that time that he possessed two other siblings - one brother and one sister. The trio were considerably close - but it was to be expected due to the fact that they were siblings. Such a bond remained strong, and had only began to truly crumble as the impending illness struck.
But before such tragedy fell upon them all Boarstep served as an infuriatingly oblivious apprentice. He was truly pitiful at hunting, yet he appeared to have some form of talent for combating a threat. His siblings often teased him for his inabilities, though they meant no real harm. Admittedly, the tom had grown frustrated, though his mentor exercised enough patience that allowed for Boarstep to progress into becoming a warrior. He had failed at his first opportunity to become a warrior. It was a truly disappointing moment, but he was far too stubborn to surrender to hopelessness. His next assessment was barely achieved, but still he was granted the the position of a warrior and was quite satisfied enough by that. He joined his siblings, acquiring the name of 'Boarstep' due to the heftiness and bulk that he had managed to acquire over time.
The first lost experienced was that of his sister. She had been bitten by a snake, the venom causing her great pain before the she-cat was allowed to pass on. The lost was one that had startled him greatly, yet he had managed to move on, comforted by the fact that she was now among the stars. The next would be the remainder of his family. It was an unexpected turn, and one that had been caused by a great illness. Life beforehand had been tranquil in quality. Perhaps there had been the occasional shortage of prey or quarrel, but the normalcy of life had been a true blessing upon them all. But soon cats had been struck by a terrible illness and the medicate cats were helpless because of the obvious lack of a cure. No remedy was found, and soon enough they were all cast out in hopes of saving those whom had been lucky enough to avoid the sickness.
It pained him greatly to be the one to assist in driving them out. Some had refused, the betrayal rendering quite a few maddened and unpredictable. The helplessness of it was excruciating, but he was a loyal tom whom served his clan leader. Her word was law, after all, and he had little choice but to obey. His family was lost, and he was alone - but still he sought to move on. Even now, he remains positive, hoping that the emptied clans would grow full again with life.
